Bengal is rising - 20th July 2007

Bengal is rising. Its economy and infrastructure is looking northwards. International players in various fields have arrived to add their expertise to the state's growth and development including infrastructure. Enter Eden, the homebred realty group with an international edge.

The Telegraph that the projects are the beginning of what he believes will be "a long standing relationship with the state and the city." The Eden City Group managing director, Mr Sachchidanand Rai said that the two projects in West Bengal may see the state's highest cash investment in the form of FDI by any foreign company to date. Eden currently has 55 lakh square feet of sanctioned residential construction area. The two projects are located at Bonhooghly in the North 24 Parganas and Maheshtala in the South 24 Parganas.

EDEN LAKESIDE, Bonhooghly, the project at Bonhooghly is opposite the Indian Statistical Institute Post Office. It is very close to Dunlop Bridge, 2nd Vivekananda Setu and Belgharia Expressway. The project is being developed through a Public Private Partnership model with Government of West Bengal. London Based REIT Asset Management is the FDI partner in the project.

The project is spread over 18 acres. Twenty Five G+15, G+11 and G+7 buildings comprising of a total of 1476 flats with 2, 3 & 4 bedrooms will be on offer. The sprawling complex will have a residents' club with swimming pool, community halls, children's play area, landscaped garden and a 70% open space. It is situated beside a large lake spread over 10 acres. The Building Plans have already been sanctioned and the project is scheduled to commence from shortly. The Project is one of its kinds in West Bengal. Since it also facilitates rehabilitation of 800 families who are currently living the project area in dilapidated tenements. These families will be resettled in 800 modern 2 bedroom LIG flats, each measuring 645 sq.ft, including super built up space in an enclosure exclusively earmarked for them.

EDEN City, Maheshtala is a sizeable housing project in South Kolkata, funded through Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). It is located at Maheshtala. The site is approximately 800 m from Nungi Suburban Railway Station and 12 Km from Taratala Junction via Budge Budge Trunk Road. The project is being developed through Public Private Partnership model with Maheshtala Municipality. The project is spread over 22 acres of land with high rise buildings that include fourteen G+7 and thirty G+15 towers and comprise a total of 2188 flats. All apartments would offer 2 to 3 bedrooms. The sprawling complex will also have a residents' club with swimming pool, community halls, children's play area, landscaped garden and a 78% open space. Arguably this is the only project of its kind that can boast of a football ground.

The building plans have already been sanctioned and the project is scheduled to commence shortly. The soft launch of the Project was announced during the CREDAI Bengal's Property Fair held at Netaji Indoor stadium on 5th to 9th July 2007.
